2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty going lightweight

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty going lightweight

640 × 480
Much like the F-150, the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty is going on a diet. It will feature the now proven aluminium panels allowing the big Ford to lose around 350 pounds in weight.

Final specifications have yet to be officially released but we know that all F-350 will come with either a 6.2-litre V8 engine or a 6.7-litre turbodiesel V8. They will use a six speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels. There is no mention of the 6.8-litre V10 engine we thought was coming though.

As well as new body panels, the chassis will consist of 95% high strength steel, offering a level of stiffness not yet seen in the Super Duty. Ford say it is 24 times stiffer than the current model but we shall have to wait and see how that translates to driving and daily use.

You already know how much we like watching car videos so here is one about the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty. It is quite enlightening!

Part of a series, the video shows the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty strutting its stuff and makes for a good watch.

Not just beasts of burden
Ford has driven comfort and luxury forward in all its vehicle families, including trucks. The F-150 can be specified to be as basic and workmanlike or as luxurious and technology-laden as your wallet allows. The 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty is following the same path.

The logic is sound. Just because it’s a work truck doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be comfortable or offer a bit of luxury. After all, if you’re spending hours a day in a truck, you want to at least be comfortable and for it to be a nice place to be. So Ford are bringing the lessons it has learned with the F-150 to the Super Duty.

As far as we know, the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty will come with a huge list of options such as Sync 3, adaptive steering, 360 degree cameras, trailer-reverse guidance, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control with emergency brake support. We know there will be the usual options of a leather interior, adjustable seating, LCD screens, automatic lighting and other practical features too.

The 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty is due sometime this year. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 for more information.
