2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Back

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

One announcement that didn’t get the attention it deserved at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, was the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The spiritual successor to the Chrysler Town & Country, the Pacifica. It is not only a continued hope for the minivan market but also an expression of how Italian ownership of Chrysler is good for the company.

The Pacifica name is making a comeback and what a way to do it!

2017 Chrysler Pacifica design
I’m sure you’ll agree that as far as minivan design goes, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica looks fantastic. It looks modern, sleek and premium, all things that help sell vehicles, even people movers. The tidy front end has active grille shutters, a small grille and a very raked windshield.

The sides have panel detailing across the entire length of the vehicle, including a line running down the doors through the handles. A slightly sloping roof and upturned rear quarter draws the eye to what is a simple but very effective rear end.

The cabin also shouts premium too. It is a modern, sculpted interior with quality materials and construction, thoughtful instrument and control placement and lots of storage. All passengers get to enjoy generous head and legroom as well as good visibility. Chrysler Stow 'n Go will feature in the rear regardless of whether you choose two or three rows.

The mechanicals
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica will have two engine options. The first is the superb 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine which has been seriously tuned to give much better gas mileage than previous iterations. It delivers 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque through a nine speed automatic transmission.

The second is a plug-in hybrid that will use the same V6 but connect it to an electric motor with a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery. The engine has been downgraded to 240 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque but can run for 30 miles on the electric motor alone. The battery can charge through a KERS-like system or through a wall plug.
As you would expect from a new vehicle launch, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica will be stuffed full of tech.
Features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning, surround-view cameras, parking assist, remote keyless entry, hill-start assist, automatic power door locks and sliding door warning to name just a few.

Check out the Chrysler Pacifica website for more details.
