2016 Nissan Titan

2016 Nissan Titan

There has
been a lot of news around the Ford F-150 and Ram truck line over the past few
months so we thought we would cover the other truck we rate highly, the Nissan Titan.

The 2016
Nissan Titan gets a redesign that brings it right up to date. It gets a new
look, new engine and two different variants. All designed to make it more
competitive with domestic trucks. From what we have seen so far, we like it!

The Titan
gets a new strengthened chassis for 2016, new front suspension from Nissan
trucks and leaf springs at the back. A fifth wheel option will be available
from the factory on XD models. That chassis will come in two sizes which will
also split the Titan line in half. On one side is the base Titan and on the
other is the longer XD.

The new
look is a good one. It's still a Titan but has been refined and uplifted to
make it much more attractive. The sheetmetal is quality as you would expect
from Nissan, with a bold but simple front end, unfussy lines and a long truck
bed on the XD. A tidy rear with large lettering completes the look.

interior of the 2016 Nissan Titan is also just what you expect from Nissan.
Good materials, quality finishing, lots of technology and plenty of storage. Nissan
Zero Gravity seating helps for long journeys and comes with optional heating
and ventilation. A centre console has been specifically designed to securely
hold a laptop, there is plenty of storage, functional controls and a decent
audio system. What's not to like?

The 2016
Nissan Titan will be available in standard and XD wheelbase. There will also be
King, Crew and Standard cabs, three bed lengths and five trim levels. There
will also be other engine options other than the Cummins. Talking of Cummins,
that engine is a real highlight of the new model.

It is a
5.0-litre V8 diesel that delivers 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. It is
connected to a six speed Aisin transmission to send power to the rear wheels. It's
a powerful combination that allows the Titan to carry "over 2000 pounds
and tow over 12,000 pounds," according to Nissan.

There will
also be a gasoline engine available, but we don't know much about that yet.
Although, with the Cummins diesel as the standard in the XD, we think this will
be the main seller.

With an
integrated brake controller, sway control, downhill towing mode and a specific
system to cycle through the signals after hitching the trailer, this truck has
been designed for work.
