Nissan Maxima is the model where the Maxima and Altima diverge, where
Nissan throws down the gauntlet to the family sedan market and when buying
decisions become that little bit more difficult.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima has new styling that many will love.
It looks sporty and that tells the world that while you may need a family sedan
but you still have class, a sense of style and plenty of get up and go!
2016 Nissan Maxima design
The new design of the 2016 Nissan Maxima has certainly made
people sit up and take note. By using a slightly longer and lower platform,
Nissan have been able to transform the looks this sedan. By adding flowing
lines and a sportier flow across the profile, they have managed to turn a family
hauler into a truly desirable car.
Inside, the typical Nissan cabin quality is clear to see.
The inside has nice materials and the cockpit style of the driving position
will suit drivers perfectly. The new centre stack with the dial control is
another change that works. You now have a choice of how to control your
infotainment, which adds to the car's appeal.
Engine and transmission
The previous Nissan V6 engine is still in evidence but it has
been upgraded and tweaked for the 2016 Nissan Maxima. The 3.5-litre V6 engine
delivers 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to a CVT transmission
to send power to the front wheels.
The Nissan V6 is a very smooth engine that is pretty much
all new. Power is increased slightly by 10 hp but the engine itself has new
exhaust valves, new intake valves, new manifold and other parts that make it
almost completely new.
2016 Nissan Maxima trims
There are five trim levels for the new Maxima, S, SV, SL, SR
and Platinum. The Maxima S offers 18 inch alloy wheels, automatic lighting,
keyless entry and ignition, fog lights, automatic climate control, power front
seats, leather steering wheel, 8 inch touchscreen, navigation, reversing
camera, and CD audio with Bluetooth.
From there, the other four trims offer everything from
sports tuned suspension, LED lighting and leather interior to automatic everything,
360 degree parking sensors and Active Trace Control.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima is a solid family car with definite
sporty elements. The build quality is excellent, the interior exceptional and
the profile great to look at. Combined with a calm, refined drive a well
behaved V6 engine and plenty of technology on board, we think the new Maxima is
definitely a sedan to try.
