2016 Nissan Maxima enters production

2016 Nissan Maxima enters production

We are looking forward to the 2016 Nissan Maxima here at Car
Nation Canada. It's a solid mid-range sedan that satisfies many of the needs of
our customers. It's a decent size, well specced, not bad looking and performs
well. All for a very reasonable price.

So we were pleased to learn our wait to see the new car in
the flesh won't be too much longer. Nissan have announced that production of
the 2016 Nissan Maxima has begun at their Smyrna manufacturing plant in
Tennessee this week.

We first saw hints of the 2016 Nissan Maxima across the
internet earlier this year. Then we saw the commercial during the 2015 Super
Bowl that changed everything. We saw the car as it will be produced and we
liked what we saw.

The first models are due in dealerships this summer.

2016 Nissan Maxima

The Nissan Maxima has a long and illustrious history, with
over thirty years of faithful service. During that time it has managed to keep
up with changing markets and demands and remain relevant to the modern buyer
throughout. It's a testament to how responsive Nissan can be.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima is an all new car with a new body
shape. The design is modern with a fastback style about it. The front end is
sporty, while the rear end is quite planted and has an air of the Jaguar about
it. We like the complex body shape, especially the hood. We like the new lights
and we like the look of the interior too.

Under that hood is a 3.5-litre VQ V6 engine that produces
300 hp. According to Nissan, 60 percent of the engine is all-new. A CVT
transmission sends power to the front wheels. The chassis is lower, lighter and
stiffer and combined with a switchable driving mode, should actually live up to
the sports sedan hype.

The interior should also help with that. Apparently inspired
by a fighter cockpit, the instruments and centre stack are canted towards the
driver, while a racing-style steering wheel adds to the experience.

Despite all these sports touches, the 2016 Nissan Maxima is
still a family car at heart. There is plenty of passenger room, generous amounts
of head and legroom, plenty of space in the trunk and a refined ride for all.
It seems Nissan have got the balance just right in the 2016 Nissan Maxima and
we can't wait to test one!
