2016 Kia Optima gets Top Safety Pick Plus rating

2016 Kia Optima gets Top Safety Pick Plus rating

640 × 480
One of our favourite sedans just got a boost from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The redesigned model has a wide range of improvements in design, comfort, the drive, technology and all over feel. It’s good to see that it’s safer too. Kia are probably very pleased at the result.

The IIHS rated the 2016 Kia Optima as good in all five crash tests. It also received the  superior rating for frontal crash avoidance. So the Optima earns the top overall rating of TSP+ (Top Safety Pick Plus).

"The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety sets some of the highest standards of crashworthiness, and the Top Safety Pick Plus designation is a significant achievement for the Kia brand and for our best-selling vehicle," said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA.

"We are pleased that the all-new Optima received strong ratings across the range of rigorous tests set forth by IIHS. This rating validates the efforts of our engineers and the priority we place on safety for our consumers." (Source)

2016 Kia Optima
The 2016 Kia Optima was fully redesigned to offer a much sleeker and sportier profile. It is now officially one of our favourite sedans in the market because of this fact. The design is completely modern and offers some great lines and adorn any driveway.

The tiger grille sits front and centre while sinuous lines flow down the sides, over the sloping roof and down to that tidy back end. Door sill detailing, the rising beltline and alloy wheels complete the look. The 2016 Kia Optima is longer, wider and taller than previous models too.

Inside, the interior benefits from improved materials, more equipment and a refined design. Seating is comfortable, the driving position is planted and offers excellent visibility all round. Controls are logical and in the right place and the centre stack offers plenty of options.

Under the hood is either a 2.4-litre four cylinder that produces 185 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, a turbocharged 1.6-litre that produces 178 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque or a 2.0-litre turbo that produces 245 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. All use either a six speed auto or seven speed dual clutch transmission.

The 2016 Kia Optima is available in four trims, LX, EX, SX and SXL. All have varying levels of technology and features as you would expect. All deliver very good levels of comfort with plenty of safety tech. Kia is known for delivering lots of technology for a very reasonable price and the new Optima is the epitome of that.

The 2016 Kia Optima is a great car for not a lot of money. For great deals on this cool sedan, visit Grimsby Kia, 435 South Service Road Grimsby, ON L3M 4E8 today!
