Kia is introducing a new update to its accomplished UVO infotainment system for its flagship sedan, the K900. The update introduces Luxury Service, a premium upgrade that adds 911 Connect, automatic diagnostics, dealership appointment scheduler, remove vehicle commands, Google local search and enhanced roadside assistance.

These extra options should make living with the K900 easier than ever.

The Luxury Service is a premium offering but new K900 buyers will get it free for five years. There is no mention of how much it will cost after that. It will need a smartphone to interface with the cell network and uses Verizon in the U.S., the cell provider for Canada has yet to be announced.

"We are taking the UVO platform to yet another level of enhancement for the Kia customer by enabling drivers and passengers to use all of their personal technologies more safely and easily, while creating exceptional user experiences," said Henry Bzeih, chief technology strategist, Kia Motors America.

This value-add inclusion is a shot over the bow of other luxury automakers who like to charge for every conceivable feature. The Kia was already great value considering how accomplished it is, this just makes the whole package more attractive to buyers.

2016 Kia K900
The 2016 Kia K900 is a luxury car for those who don’t like attention. It is understated and subtle yet offers all the premium features of much more expensive cars.

The design is very simple and has an air of Jaguar about it. The tiger nose is present and correct, as is a long hood, angled lights, a raked windshield, sloped roof and short rear end. The profile sees subtle wheel arches, door and sill detailing, a straight waistline and some nice chrome accents.

Inside, this is very definitely a premium car. The space, materials, seats, controls and overall ambience is one of luxury. Seats are supportive, the driving position is comfortable, the rear seats can recline and you can looked after for every mile. Add the option of soft close doors and you could easily believe you’re in something costing two or three times as much.

Under the hood is a 3.8-litre V6 engine that produces 311 hp and 293 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear. There is an optional V8 which used to be the standard. It’s a 5.0-litre unit that delivers 420 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque and uses the same transmission.

With every conceivable option available, the 2016 Kia K900 is a complete luxury car. Visit Kia of Hamilton, 1885 Upper James St, Hamilton ON, L9B 1K8 to book a test drive.
