The Kia Cadenza is the Korean automaker's flagship sedan and
one of its best sellers. This new model has undergone some big changes in
design and features, including a more powerful engine. We think the 2016 KiaCadenza is going to be the most successful version yet.
As a flagship model, the Cadenza has to be good, as any
shortcomings reflect on the brand as a whole. Fortunately, from what we have
seen so far, there are no such worries with this year's release.
2016 Kia Cadenza design
We first saw the 2016 Kia Cadenza at the New York Auto Show
and liked what we saw. It follows the European-inspired designed overseen by
Peter Schreyer. It is a sleek look, with a sloping hood, narrow front end with
the tiger nose and angled headlights.
It sits low and wide in a solid stance, while on top the
line flows sinuously from the hood, over the raked windshield, over the sloped
roof and down and over the trunk. A tidy rear end with simple taillights and
twin pipes complete the look.
Inside, the cabin is spacious, well built and as modern as
the exterior. Passenger space is generous, with plenty of head and legroom in
both rows. Adjustable front seats are comfortable, the driving position is
commanding and the insulation is very good. It is a very nice place to be.
Engine and transmission
The 2016 Kia Cadenza uses a 3.3-litre direct injected V6
engine that produces 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a smooth
six speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
The ride is smooth and assured, with the motor and
drivetrain offering steady power delivery throughout the range. Engine noise is
minimal inside the cabin and the paddle shifters are useful for when you get to
more interesting roads.
2016 Kia Cadenza trims
There are three trim levels for the 2016 Kia Cadenza, base,
Premium and Tech. All are generous kitted out as you would expect. The base
Cadenza offers alloy wheels, heated power door mirrors, air conditioning, climate
control, cruise control, power accessories, automatic lighting and lots more
As the flagship model, the Cadenza offers just about every
feature you can imagine. Premium and Tech trims add navigation, different alloy
wheels, reversing camera, heated seats and steering wheel, lane departure
warning system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and a host of
The 2016 Kia Cadenza is an accomplished car with a smooth
ride, plenty of features and lots to love. Add in a quiet cabin, smooth driving
experience and a real feeling of luxury and you have a future hit on your
hands. Considering the price, you really do get a lot of car for your money.
