2016 Dodge Journey: A Quick Overview

Technically the Journey is a compact crossover, but it's a big one. The design definitely has elements of SUV about it, with references to Range Rover all over it. The front end is particularly accomplished with a big black grille, body-coloured bumper and chrome lower grille in some specs.

 

A long wheelbase with slightly sloping roof, big alloy wheels, roof rails and a simple but effective rear end complete what is a very tidy design.

 

On the inside, the cabin is all quality. It is well put together, contains quality materials, comfortable seating, plenty of passenger and cargo space, good levels of technology and lots of cubbies and places to put things. The rear seats fold flat if needed to offer massive amounts of cargo space should you need it.

 

Engine and transmission

 

The 2016 Dodge Journey comes with either a 2.4-litre four cylinder that produces 177 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque or a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 that produces 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 2.4 uses a four speed automatic while the V6 uses a six speed auto. Power is sent to the front or all wheels.

 

Of the two engines, the V6 is definitely the one to get. Coupled with more gears it is easier to drive, more refined and much more capable of hauling people or products around.

 

2016 Dodge Journey trims

 

There are five trim levels for the 2016 Dodge Journey, SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus and R/T. The Journey SE offers 17 inch alloy wheels, power windows, locks and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, tinted windows, roof rails and CD audio.

 

The SXT adds fog lights, LED taillights, exterior trim upgrades, 4.3 inch screen with Uconnect and interior trim upgrades. Th Crossroad adds 19 inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim and leather seats with cloth inserts. Crossroad Plus further adds full leather interior, 8.4 inch infotainment screen and access to a huge range of options.

 

The Journey R/T adds lots of interior and exterior refinements, premium audio and plenty of other optional extras.
