2016 Dodge Journey

I got the chance to take a 2016 Dodge Journey out for a spin last week. We sell quite a few of them here at Car Nation Canada and I had been meaning to drive this family Dodge for a while so I could do a piece on it.
The 2016 Dodge Journey is a three row crossover that keeps quite the low profile. That’s why I wanted to try it. Other cars from other automakers are much happier to shout from the rooftops, but the Journey seems content to sit quietly and just deliver whenever you need it.
2016 Dodge Journey design
The design is cool without being boxy. It’s a nice design that effectively merges SUV with CUV. The front end is quite low for an SUV but also quite masculine. The lower grill is outlined in some pretty big trim while the Dodge cross in the upper grille is quite understated if you spec it in black not chrome. The rest of the design has a sporty edge to it offering an attractive package.
Inside, the cabin of the 2016 Dodge Journey is top notch. It is much more spacious than you might think, with three rows and plenty of room in each row. The driving position is commanding and comfortable, with all the controls within easy reach. Fixtures and fittings have a solid feel to them and the materials used combine quality with solidity, essential in what is a family car.
There are two engine options for the 2016 Dodge Journey, a 2.4-litre four cylinder that delivers 173 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque and a 3.6-litre V6 that delivers 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. I drove the V6 and it was smooth, had plenty of power on tap and responded well to my foot. The transmission was also smooth, offering little resistance in both up and downshifts.
Safety is at the top of the Journey’s agenda. Each comes equipped with antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver knee airbag. Options include a rearview camera and rear parking sensors.
2016 Dodge Journey trims
The Journey is available with five or seven seats and five trim levels, SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus and R/T. The equipment levels are pretty good with even the base SE having cruise control, keyless entry and ignition, climate control, six-speaker CD audio and a 4.3 inch touchscreen. Higher trims add leather, Led lighting, flexible seating, more interior trim options, Bluetooth, satellite radio and more.
The 2016 Dodge Journey is a great family car that delivers on quality, space and equipment. The drive is smooth, the V6 option is powerful enough for any use and the driving position is comfortable and affords great visibility all round. Try it for yourself to see what I mean.
