2016 Dodge Durango gets a new look

The 2016 Dodge Durango is one of those vehicles that delivers a lot but never really gets the recognition it deserves. We see them all the time on our streets but never really pay them any mind. Dodge are looking to change all that with two new appearance packages.

The ‘Brass Monkey’ and ‘Anodized Platinum’ appearance packages will soon be available. We got a glimpse of them at Chicago and liked what we saw. The Brass Monkey is available on the Durango Limited and has new 20 inch bronze aluminium wheels, black grille, black trim and badging.

The Anodized Platinum package will be available on the Durango Citadel and offers 20 inch satin carbon aluminium wheels, platinum coloured grill, mirror covers, exterior trim and badging.

The changes are modest but make a real difference. We think they will go down well with buyers of the Durango who like to stand out from the crowd.

2016 Dodge Durango
The 2016 Dodge Durango is a handsome beast. It’s an unashamedly chunky crossover SUV with some softer edges to appeal to the family crowd. With great passenger space, reliable engines and excellent road manners, it does have a lot to offer.

The exterior is quite understated for an SUV. It’s big yes, but it isn’t brash with it. The high front end has quite the imposing presence with big grille, large light cluster and lower sill. Yet turn the corner and the lines soften with round edges and more subtle styling.

Inside, the 2016 Dodge Durango is spacious, well-appointed and a nice place to be. It can seat eight in comfort if you spec it right, making it ideal for larger families. The driving position is upright and offers great visibility. The controls all have a solid feel to them and the materials quality is excellent across the model range.

Under that large hood is a 3.6-litre V6 engine that delivers 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels. Opt for the Durango R/T and you get a 5.7-litre V8 that delivers 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque.

The Durango is available across four well equipped trim levels, SXT, Limited, Citadel and R/T. The base SXT offers 18 inch alloys, adjustable driving settings, auto lighting, keyless entry and ignition, cruise control, climate control, 5 inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, six speaker audio and self-levelling suspension at the back. Other trims add everything from leather interior to reversing camera, LED running lights to remote start. The options list is huge.

The 2016 Dodge Durango is a solid crossover SUV that delivers the goods and the family wherever you need to go. It’s a solid vehicle that won’t let you down. Check it out at Parkway Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Mississauga, 2260 Battleford Road, Mississauga, ON, L5N 3K6.
