2016 Chrysler 200: A Quick Review

2016 Chrysler 200: A Quick Review

The 2016 Chrysler 200 is a brand new car that delivers the drive and the quality we have been waiting for. It brings Chrysler firmly back into the spotlight in terms of design, relevance and value and we think you'll love it!

2016 Chrysler 200 design

The exterior design is smooth, it's the only adjective that would come to mind when looking at it. The lines are smooth. The front end is nicely tapered with an unassuming front grille, a nice lower fascia with fog lights and quite high ground clearance. A fluted hood flows smoothly into a raked windshield and over a very sloped roof to an equally sloped trunk where it ends in a very tidy back end. The side panels have nice detailing above the sill and a straight waist contrasts that sloped roof nicely. It is a handsome car that really does bring Chrysler into the present.

The cabin has also had the treatment. An all new cabin could easily be mistaken for something a lot more expensive. Lots of quality materials, soft-touch surfaces and nice trim abound. Supportive seats, an upright but comfortable driving position with great visibility all round and plenty of technology just add to the appeal.

Engine and transmission

The 2016 Chrysler 200 has two engine options, a 3.6-litre V6 and a 2.4-litre four. The V6 produces 295 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The four cylinder produces 184 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque. Both use Chrysler's very accomplished nine-speed automatic transmission to send power to the front or all wheels.

Both engines have more than enough power to satisfy the daily commute, driving holiday or blast around the country. The motors are smooth, deliver steady power throughout the range and are refined enough for any buyer. The transmission is steady and always on time, you don't even notice The fact you have nine forward gears after a while.

2016 Chrysler 200 Trims

The 2016 Chrysler 200 continues the trims from previous models, LX, Limited, S and C. The 200 LX offers 17 inch wheels, air conditioning, reversing camera, LED interior lighting and taillights, cloth upholstery, keyless entry, infotainment screen, CD audio and Uconnect.

The 200 Limited adds 17 inch alloy wheels, a larger touchscreen, voice command, upgraded audio, upgraded interior trim and upholstery. The S and C trim add further upgrades including leather interior, blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, heated and ventilated seats and much more.

What is new for 2016 is the introduction of a limited 90th Anniversary Package for the 2016 Chrysler 200. This package celebrates Chrysler's 90th birthday in a big way. Included in the package is an 8.4 inch touchscreen, sunroof, leather steering wheel, heated door mirrors, power driver's seat, illuminated vanity mirrors and special 90th Anniversary trim elements.
