2015 Nissan Murano

2015 Nissan Murano

There has
been quite a lot of Nissan news this past couple of weeks and we like it. The
Japanese automaker seems to go months without releasing anything so we have to
make the most of it when they do. The latest newsworthy item is the 2015 Nissan
Murano.

Redesigned
for this third generation, the new look crossover SUV has matured and gained a
more flowing profile like its cousins the Rogue and soon to be released
Qashqai.

The Nissan
Murano is a two-row five seat crossover with decent cargo space, front or
all-wheel drive and an eye on that most lucrative family market. As one of the
very first crossover vehicles released in 2003, its pedigree is a good one. Changes
for the 2015 model include a new interior, new exterior styling and better gas
mileage.

The exterior
styling brings the 2015 Nissan Murano into line with the rest of Nissan's SUV
lineup. The flowing lines draw the eye along the body, especially from that big
grille, over those angled headlights and over the hood to the roofline. The
signature chrome grille and Nissan badge is front and centre and chrome accents
adorn other key parts of the exterior.

Inside, the
new interior has elevated the Murano another level. Nissan interiors are always
great, but this new version is better than usual. Soft touch materials,
excellent finishing, lots of technology, storage and space. A particular
highlight, as always, are Nissan's zero gravity seats. They are exceptionally
comfortable, supportive and offer a very nice perch when on the road.

Under the
hood is a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine that produces 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of
torque. It is mated to a CVT transmission that has been tweaked to offer taller
ratios for better fuel economy.

The 2015
Nissan Murano has four trim levels, S, SV, SL and Platinum. The Murano S offers
18 inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a 7 inch
touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, reversing camera, app integration and
six-speaker CD audio.

SV adds an
8 inch touchscreen, voice recognition, navigation, HD radio, fog lights, roof
rails, leather steering wheel and an eight-way power driver's seat. SL adds
heated external mirrors, driver memory seat, blind spot warning, cross traffic
alert, leather interior, heated front seats, 360 degree camera, ambient
interior lighting, power liftgate and Bose audio.

The Murano
Platinum offers 20 inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control,
forward collision warning and a crash mitigation system.

The 2015
Nissan Murano is an excellent upgrade from the previous model. It exhibits
improvements in all the right places while retaining the strengths of the
previous version. It still represents one of the best crossover SUVs on the
market and is well worth considering if you're in the market for a family car.
