2015 Ford Taurus: A Quick Overview

2015 Ford Taurus: A Quick Overview

The 2015 Ford Taurus is the perfect large sedan for family, commuting and daily life. It has lots of passenger space, a decent-sized trunk, plenty of technology and some very good engines. It's a hard car to dislike which is why it sells so well.

The design is a sensible one. It's a modern look that continued Ford's design language of sleek lines, angled grille and lighting, a simple profile and attractive rear end. It admittedly isn't that exciting, but it's solid, handsome and has good road presence. It's also a design that will last the test of time rather than show its age after a year or two.

Inside the 2015 Ford Taurus, the recent improvements Ford has made with its interiors is obvious. High quality soft touch materials, supportive seating, decent passenger space and a nice driving position all stand out. A large touchscreen with MyFord Touch dominates the centre stack along with sleek controls. The inside of the Taurus is a nice place to be.

Under the hood is the standard 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 288 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. There is the option to have a 2.0-litre turbo EcoBoost four cylinder that produces 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque or a 3.5-litre V6 that produces 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. All use a six speed automatic transmission with front and all-wheel drive options.

There are four trim levels for the 2015 Ford Taurus, SE, SEL, Limited and SHO. The Taurus SE offers 17 inch alloy wheels, automatic lighting, Led taillights, keyless entry and ignition, cruise control, air conditioning, power front seats, reversing camera, exterior access keypad, Ford Sync voice control, Bluetooth and CD audio.

The SEL adds 18 inch alloys, heated side mirrors, rear parking sensors, remote start, climate control, upgraded upholstery, leather steering wheel and satellite radio. Limited further adds 19 inch alloys, heated and ventilated front seats, leather interior,  adjustable pedals, MyFord Touch, upgraded gauge cluster and USB ports.

The range-topping Taurus SHO offers everything in the Limited plus the 3.5-litre V6, all-wheel drive, tuned suspension, paddle shifters, xenon lighting and upgraded leather interior. There are also a range of SHO-specific options included sports brakes and more tuning for the suspension and ride.

The 2015 Ford Taurus is a car for all reasons. It is just as happy on the highway as it is on the school run. It's modern, well specified, has some great engines and offers the safety and reliability you expect from a modern Ford. All for a very competitive price.
