2023 Kia Telluride Showcased at New York Auto Show

2023 Kia Telluride Showcased at New York Auto Show

The 2023 Kia Telluride had been hinted about for the longest time, but has now been revealed in all its glory at the New York Auto Show.

The Telluride is a big seller for Kia over here and any changes needed to be done carefully. From what we see, the changes, while modest, are a move in the right direction.

Kia calls them ‘convenience and technology upgrades’.

New convenience

We’re guessing the convenience element for the 2023 Kia Telluride comes from two new trims and the facelift.

The two new trims are X-Line and X-Pro. X-Line replaces Nightfall and includes a unique grille, unique 20 inch alloy wheels, new roof rails and better front and rear angles, presumably for off roading.

There is also a new Tow Mode specifically to reduce trailer sway when hauling.

X-Pro also has its own unique wheels, power outlet in the rear and adds mechanical upgrades to increase the towing capacity by 10%.

The facelift includes a new grille, new lighting, new bumper, new grille mesh, tidier rear with new bumper and taillights and three new colours.

While the original Telluride looked good. This one looks even better!

New technology

The new technology includes dual 12.3” touchscreens for the instruments and infotainment. The steering wheel has also been updated.

There’s a WiFi hotspot, new apps to recognize road signs including speed limit signs. There is also an optional speed limiter for when the Telluride reaches those speed limit signs.

A new navigation-based automatic cruise control is also going to be available. It will be able to adjust cruise speed depending on oncoming road conditions.

2023 Kia Telluride

The 2023 Kia Telluride is a great looking SUV and is getting more press than Range Rover or the BMW X5 right now.

These upgrades add all the right features in all the right places. The redesign has also elevated the profile of the Telluride too.

It looks nicer, less imposing and much more of the now. This is still a big SUV but it doesn’t look or feel it.

With the existing 3.8-litre V6 engine still present, you still have 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque to help propel you along.

That’s plenty enough to keep things smooth without overdoing it. Along with the 8 speed automatic transmission, the Telluride has enough get-up-and-go for almost any situation.

I’m looking forward to getting hands-on with the 2023 Kia Telluride but it won’t be for a while.

We may have seen the reveal, but pricing and a release date has yet to be confirmed. Given how the world is right now, that’s no surprise.
