The 2016 Kia Sedona is a quality minivan that is often
regarded as the upstart newcomer to an established market. We don't disagree
with that. In fact, we think it is shaking up the segment nicely and forcing
other manufacturers to raise their game. The winner in all of this is you the
consumer as you get a better product at a better price.
2016 Kia Sedona design
The Sedona had a major makeover last year so has
concentrated on adding technology rather than changing its looks the time round.
We like the chunky front end of the Sedona. It carries the tiger grill nicely
and has a friendly "face" that reflects other models in the Kia
Side panels are detailed along the waistline and the lower
sill which draws the eye down the car. That waistline rises at the third row
before curving round to the rear end. A sloping roof with roof rails, alloy
trim and wheels completes the look.
The cabin of the 2016 Kia Sedona is all good. The driving
position is commanding, the dashboard modern, clear and full of information.
Switches and controls are good and the overall driving and passenger experience
is a good one. The second and third row has plenty of head and legroom as well
as cubbies everywhere for family stuff.
Engine and transmission
The 2016 Kia Sedona uses a 3.3-litre V6 engine that produces
276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a six speed automatic
transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Performance is good for a vehicle of this size. As well as a
family, the Sedona can tow up to 3,500 pounds offering even more utility. The
driving experience is also positive, with smooth acceleration, slick gear
changes, firm but comfortable suspension and great performance both in the city
and on the highway.
2016 Kia Sedona trims
The 2016 Kia Sedona has five trims, L, LX, EX, SX and SX-L.
The Sedona L offers 17 inch wheels, sliding doors, rear parking sensors,
collapsing second and third row, air conditioning, power everything, cruise
control and CD audio.
The LX adds 17 inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, power
folding mirrors, roof rails, rear privacy glass, 4.3 inch screen, reversing
camera, power driver's seat and Kia UVO.
The Sedona EX adds 18 inch alloys, LED driving lights, fog
lights, heated side mirrors, power liftgate, power sliding doors, keyless entry
and ignition, leather interior, remote garage door opener, automatic climate
control and Infinity audio.
The SX trim adds upgraded leather interior, heated front and
second row seats, switchable driving modes, navigation, 8 inch touchscreen,
voice control and blind sport monitoring. The SX-L adds 19 inch alloys, front
and rear parking sensor, heated steering wheel and upgraded seating and comfort
The 2016 Kia Sedona is our top pick in the minivan market.
