2012 Chrysler 300 & Dodge Charger Get 5 Star Safety Rating

The 2012 Chrysler 300 and 2012 Dodge Charger both recently earned a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 5-star safety rating is the highest rating awarded by the US government agency.
Recognised as Top Safety Picks by the IIHS
Both Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger achieved an overall 5-star vehicle safety score, and a 4-star rating on rollover testing. Earlier this year, the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger were also named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, as well.

“These vehicles are comprehensively equipped with advanced safety features,” said Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President-Engineering, Chrysler Group. “Both vehicles are robustly designed with a rigid structure to protect occupants and have numerous advanced safety features including, available Adaptive Cruise Control which NHSTA notes as a technology proven to reduce crashes.”
Both the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger are equipped with more than 65 safety and security features, including:
- Ready Alert Braking
- Rain Brake Support which improves overall vehicle handling under all weather and pavement conditions
- Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a set distance between vehicles when the cruise control is engaged
- Electronic stability control
- Blind-spot monitoring system
Best-in-Class Fuel Economy
Both vehicles are also equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission with available All-Wheel-Drive, a first by a North American automaker. Combined with the award-winning 292 horsepower Pentastar V-6 engine, the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger both achieve a Best-in-Class, EPA rated 7.58L/100Km (31 mpg) on the highway.
